Jasmine and Monica visit the Berber villages of Olad Ayad and Ouzoud. Includes information about the Ouzoud waterfalls, Berber history, the status of women in the Berber culture, daily life in a Berber community and the Trans-Saharan trade route.

Imagine living in a place like Oz or any remote village, perched on a dusty mountaintop without modern conveniences such as cars, computers, televisons and fast food restaurants. What 5 things would you do to entertain yourself? What would you do to provide for your family?

Kavitha - A Marrakech Fairy Tale: Snake Charmers and Princesses
Kid's version availiable!

In fairy tale form, Kavitha tells about Moroccan hospitality, upper class lifestyles, a Turkish bath (hammam), the Place Djemaa el-Fna marketplace, snake charmers, and Moroccan food.

Have your students write their own fairy tales infusing a personal experience with an element of magic.

Abeja - I'm sittin' on top of the world!

Abeja and Kavitha climb Mt. Toubkal, the tallest mountain in North Africa. Includes information about the Atlas Mountains, Mt. Toubkal, Berbers, and Greek mythology.

Have your class act out the Greek myth of Atlas.

Team - Moroccan Women...Caught Between Two Worlds

The team discussed the status of women in Morocco. Includes reference to modernization, traditional Islamic beliefs, family, work, education and illiteracy.

Compare the experience of growing up female in Moroccan society to growing up female in American society. What are the similarities? What are the differences?

Abeja gets M.A.D.-- She's Making a Difference

Exploration of the dangers of Nestle's formula milk promotion in Africa with suggestions for how students can make a difference.

Write Nestle a letter and tell them what you and your class think of their business practices. Have a class discussion about different ways to get others to boycott Nestle products. What other companies are exploiting third world countries for profit?
