Costa Rica's best known export is coffee. It also has a very diverse local music industry reflecting both traditional Latin culture, and the influence of European (particularly Spanish) musc. Juan Carlos Urena is one of Costa Rica's best known singer/ songwriters, a champion of Costa Rica's "nueva cancion" movement.

"Este Son," with its bright acoustic guitars and catchy chorus brings to mind the bouncy Latin pop of Jose Feleciano. A Son is an Afro-Cuban musical style that eventually developed into Salsa. In "Este Son", Urena sings about the kind of country he longs to be in.
