Odyssey Maps
This update we spend a lot of time in the south of Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula. Jamila and Klaus send dispatches from Palenque, Merida, and Chichen Itza, and will be travelling on to Tikal and, eventually, Copan.
Monica sends a dispatch from her home for the next month, Concepcion, near Solola and Lake Atitlan.

The Maya lived in three distinct regions, though at different times their center of population and great power shifted.
Power was originally concentrated in the Central area (between 250 and 900 AD), with the capital at Tikal. Power then shifted to the north, with three cities sharing control. Chichen Itza, where Klaus and Jamila are was one of these, and Uxmal, where they are going next, was another. The third was Mayapan, where we unfortunately donšt have time to visit. Stay tuned for more exciting map adventures!
