Education Program Interns

The Odyssey: World Trek for Service and Education, a San Francisco based non-profit, is currently seeking four Education Program Interns, 10-15 hours per week, beginning Feb. 17, 1998, with a special orientation retreat Saturday, Feb. 14.

The Odyssey is an interactive global excursion scheduled to begin July, 1998. More than one million students will be linked to The Odyssey World Trek Team - 10 volunteers traveling around the world for two years working with various grassroots organizations. Teachers will be provided on-line curriculum to help students learn about diverse cultures of the world, explore current global issues, and discover ways to affect positive change in the world.

Intern Responsibilities:

• Develop the Odyssey's on-line curriculum for teachers and students
• Research existing curriculum and web sites related to The Odyssey's central themes
• Create activities from and format information sent by World Trek Team Members
• Establish and maintain partnerships with organizations and teachers
• Assist teacher outreach efforts and national support network
• Develop service projects and group activities for student initiatives

Qualifications Desired:

• Sincere commitment to promoting global education and cultural understanding
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• Strong writing, interpersonal, and computer skills a plus
• Previous education or web experience helpful
